Rumour has it that you can order a 7 meat sandwich from Potbelly Sandwich Shop.
I wasn’t enticed by that rumour as a 7 meat sandwich didn’t sound all that appealing to me but I still wanted to visit the shop for a meal.
Three friends and I decided to visit the Potbelly Sandwich Shop in Dubai Mall (which is unfortunately closed now) and the smell of the different sandwiches being made lifted me up and towards the restaurant just like the Bitmoji on Snapchat.

Upon entering the restaurant, we saw the only remaining booth at the back and another group of friends eyeing the same table. It was that moment when both groups stared into each other’s eyes that I knew getting that table would be absolute chaos. & so it was.
After an hour of bloodshed, tears and bruises (more like 5 minutes of each group’s spokesperson saying “I insist, you have the table”), we finally sat at the booth and got ready to order.
It was like a standard sandwich shop routine where you order your sandwich then proceed to the next counter where you choose your dressings/sauces and toppings. For my meatball sandwich, I asked for ketchup, barbecue sauce, jalapenos and onions.

I wasn’t all that hungry and so didn’t order any side dishes but I did munch on my friend’s fries while waiting for my sandwich. Let me ask you all something; did you every take a bite out of cardboard? That was what it felt like after eating one of the fries. It was so bland that my friend had to ask for barbecue sauce and a ton of salt to add flavour.

At this point, I was scared that the sandwiches would be the same but alas, it was heaven in a baguette. The sandwich was so flavourful, tender and delicious that I couldn’t help myself to one more.
Turns out I wasn’t the only one out of the four of us who wanted another sandwich. While we waited in line to order some more, the cashier lady advised us to take the meal for four which includes four sandwiches, large soft drinks and a large bag of Lays crisps. We decided it would be a much cheaper option and so bought that and devoured the entire meal within minutes.
It’s quite a pricey sandwich shop in comparison to Charley’s and Subway but it definitely trumps them by a landslide (at least in my opinion). It definitely is a place people should visit, the sandwiches are to die for.
Once you leave the restaurant, you’d be walking out with an actual potbelly so make sure to wear sweatpants, kids.
